Electrify Amherst 2020

Finished electric box mural front with imprersiionistic wolf on a glowing blue background surrounded by woods.

I was one of the jury picked artists for Electrify Amherst, a project sponsored by the Amherst Public Art Commission and funded by the Amherst Cultural Council. Artists paint electric box murals to beautify the public space.

I submitted a design for the jury in the summer. and they assigned a box to me!

The design is titled “Whose Woods These Are” and is inspired by the many walks in the woods I go on in the area.

I took some photos of the box on location in September,

My assigned box!

I came and painted the box with the help of some friends.

I was so proud of the end result! This was only my second mural project and my first electric box mural. I changed the idea to a more impressionistic style to better mesh with the area and was not disappointed by the results. I know that color is a natural strength of mine and I feel I really got to shine. The box blends well with the surrounding environment and has received so many compliments!

You can find it where West Pomeroy lane meets 116 in Amherst Massachusetts.
