Just finished this pet portrait of a client’s lovely Malinois. I don’t think I could keep up with one, but they are lovely dogs. This one was described as very loyal and playful, here he is checking that his owner is beside him.
I do not copy photographs, clients tell me a bit about the animal and then send me photographs that best represent their animal. I try to come up with a pose that best captures the personality they describe. I like to keep it more realistic than cartoony, but with an artist’s hand.
I went for moodier lighting here and was happy with the results!
